Wedgetail Development Series
Our goal is simple: to design roof racks that work as hard as you do.
In this series, we show how every Wedgetail Rack is carefully developed to ensure the right fit, durability and performance you can rely on – whether it’s for work, travel or everyday use.
Nothing beats Australian Made.
Episode 1: Evaluation
Episode 2: Concept & Prototyping
This stage is where designs move from CAD modelling to working prototypes, tested for strength, fitment and functionality.
Our team ensures every detail – from load capacity and aerodynamics to mounting precision – is built to perform in real-world conditions.
The concept and prototyping process is a critical step in creating a roof rack that works seamlessly with the vehicle and stands up to tough use.
Episode 3: Testing Process
We put our prototypes through rigorous testing under Australia’s toughest conditions.
We highlight the pull test, demonstrating how Wedgetail verifies load-holding capacity and stability – ensuring each rack delivers reliable performance when it counts.
Episode 4: Road Testing
We take our prototype out on the road.
This stage focuses on real-world performance – checking wind noise, identifying potential issues and refining the design for optimal stability and comfort.
Based on tester feedback, we make adjustments to ensure every component functions seamlessly under driving conditions, addressing any quirks before the product reaches our customers.
This ensures that the final Wedgetail rack is ready for both adventure and everyday use.
