Technical answer

Which conduit carrier size do I need: 100 mm or 150 mm?

Short answer

Choose the conduit carrier by diameter first, 100 mm or 150 mm to suit the conduit and lengths you carry, then by rack: Wedgetail Trade takes the 150 mm top mount carrier (RWA-CB150T assembled, or RWA-CB150TNP without pipe), Wedgetail Adventure takes the 100 mm or 150 mm no pipe kits (WTA-AC100NP, WTA-AC150NP), and Commercial Max and Oval Steel take the 100 mm or 150 mm carriers with pipe (AC100, AC150) or without (AC100NP, AC150NP). The no pipe kits include the brackets and end caps; you buy sewer grade PVC pipe from a plumbing supplier. The table lists every carrier with its RRP.

100 mm or 150 mm

The size is the diameter of the carrier pipe, so pick the one your conduit, pipe or tools slide into with room to spare. A 150 mm carrier takes a bigger bundle or larger pipe; a 100 mm carrier suits smaller conduit. Both suit conduit, and the product pages also list spirit levels, straight edges and fishing rods. The Wedgetail Adventure and Trade pages say the carriers hold lengths up to five metres, depending on the length of the rack and the vehicle.

With pipe or no pipe

  • No pipe (NP) kits: brackets and twist lock end caps, without the tube. Buy sewer grade PVC pipe from a local plumbing supplier to suit your length.
  • With pipe: the Commercial Max and Oval Steel AC100 and AC150 come with the pipe. Their product pages say they cannot be shipped outside Metro Melbourne, and point other buyers to the no pipe version.
  • Wedgetail Trade assembled: RWA-CB150T is listed as the assembled Trade carrier, but its product page text says the kit excludes the sewer grade PVC, so confirm with Wedgetail whether the pipe is supplied. The product pages also say conduit carriers are not suited to shipping long distances, so check delivery with your stockist.

Which rack, and how it mounts

The Wedgetail Adventure and Trade carriers are designed to be installed using the Fixed Awning Bracket accessory; the Adventure kits include three fixed awning brackets. Commercial Max and Oval Steel carriers come with three brackets. For using and loading the carrier day to day, see how to use the Wedgetail conduit carrier. For which rack suits the job, see the electrician's ute guide and the plumber's van guide.

Spare end caps

End caps are sold separately for the Commercial Max and Oval Steel carriers, in 100 mm and 150 mm, single or as a pair. The single 100 mm cap is listed as a replacement part (ALEC).

Questions people ask

Which conduit carrier size do I need?

The one your conduit fits inside with room to spare: 150 mm for larger pipe or bigger bundles, 100 mm for smaller conduit. Wedgetail Trade is listed in 150 mm only.

Does the conduit carrier come with the pipe?

Only some versions. The Commercial Max and Oval Steel AC100 and AC150 come with it; the no pipe kits need sewer grade PVC pipe from a plumbing supplier. Confirm with Wedgetail whether the assembled Trade RWA-CB150T includes the pipe.

How long a conduit can I carry?

Up to five metres, depending on the length of your rack and vehicle, per the Wedgetail Adventure and Trade product pages.

Can the carrier go on the side of the rack?

Yes on Wedgetail Adventure and Trade. The Adventure 150 mm kit is named side mount, and the Trade page says the clamps allow mounting on the side or top platform surface.

Do I need a dual cab, extra cab or single cab rack for a conduit carrier?

The carrier depends on the rack range, not the cab. Find the Wedgetail rack for your cab and tray or canopy, then pick the carrier made for that range; the electrician's ute guide compares the options, including carrying ladders alongside conduit.

Can I buy replacement end caps?

Yes. 100 mm and 150 mm end caps are sold singly and in pairs for the Commercial Max and Oval Steel carriers.
