Technical answer
Is there a rear door ladder for a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter roof rack?
Short answer
Yes: Wedgetail makes a rear door ladder for the 2019 to current (VS30) Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with 180 degree rear barn door hinges, in three versions for the LWB high roof (WTA-SLDH), the MWB high roof (WTA-SLDM) and the MWB low roof (WTA-SLDML). It fits the driver's side (right hand) rear door, mounts through the door hinges and is bolted through the door skin above and below the window. How it mounts
- Hinges: the ladder is secured through the rear barn door hinges, and only 180 degree hinges are suitable.
- Door skin: it is bolted through the door skin above and below the window area. Wedgetail says the lower mount has extra support to stop the door skin buckling under load.
- Rear step and sensors: it works with or without the rear step, and does not affect the reverse sensors when no rear step is fitted.
- Badges: some door badges may need to be removed.
Check before you order
Confirm your van is a 2019 or later Sprinter, check the rear doors open on 180 degree hinges, and note the wheelbase and roof height. Not sure which body you have? A Wedgetail stockist can check the van and fit the ladder with the rack. For choosing between a platform, bars and a ladder rack on a van, see the van roof rack buying guide.
