Technician Ladder Kit Demonstration
Carrying ladders safely and efficiently is critical for tradies, technicians, and mobile service teams who rely on their vehicles every day. In our latest demonstration, Josh walks through how the Wedgetail Trade Platform, paired with the Technician Ladder Kit, provides a secure, low-profile and easy-to-use solution for transporting A-frame and extension ladders.
Whether you’re carrying a tapered ladder, a straight extension or an A-frame, the setup is designed to adapt quickly to whatever the job demands.
A Low-Profile System Designed for Real-World Use
One of the biggest advantages of the Wedgetail Trade Platform is its low-profile mounting system, which keeps clearance minimal – ideal for garages, car parks and city-based work vehicles. Because the rack sits low, accessing hardware from underneath can be difficult, so the system is built to allow everything to be managed from the sides of the platform, making it fast and safe to adjust.
Josh explains:
“What we’ve tried to do is get the platform as low as possible, which then makes it difficult to get your hand under from the back. So, we do everything from the side.”
Adjustable Buffer Positions for Multiple Ladder Types
The Technician Ladder Kit includes buffers on both the inside and outside of the rack, with three adjustable positions along the platform. These allow the rack to be configured for:
-
Straight ladders
-
Parallel extension ladders
-
Tapered ladders
-
A-frame ladders
To adjust the spacing, simply loosen the bolt using a 5mm Allen key, slide the buffers to the correct width, and retighten. No complex tools, no dismantling required.
Optional Ladder Lock for Security
For theft-prone work environments, the setup shown in the video also includes the Wedgetail Ladder Lock, which prevents ladders being removed without authorisation.
Josh adds:
“On this side, I have it set up for an A-frame ladder, also with our ladder lock if you need to secure the ladder from being stolen.”
Fast Loading and Securing – Built for Working Efficiency
Once the ladder is positioned between the buffers, it’s locked firmly in place so it won’t slide forward or sideways.
The final step is securing it vertically using side strap tie-points that are built into the platform.
To strap down:
-
Pass the straps over the ladder
-
Bring them back underneath to the tie-down points
-
Hook and tighten
“Pull down and that’s fastened.”
And when needed?
The entire ladder kit can be removed quickly so the rack can function as a standard load deck.
