Comparison
Wedgetail vs Prorack Aero Deck platform
Short answer
The biggest difference is off-road: every Wedgetail is rated 100% off-road to its full dynamic rating, while Prorack says its maximum load rating reduces by 33% off sealed roads (50% for clamp-mounted systems). Static on a Wedgetail is 3.5 x dynamic (350 or 525 kg static); Prorack uses a multiple of three. Wedgetail racks are made in Bayswater, Victoria, Australia with a welded main frame and made to suit each vehicle, and warranty is 10 years on Wedgetail Adventure against a 3 year limited warranty on Prorack products. Third-party accessories fit a Wedgetail, some with a 10 mm spacer to clear the strength lip.

What the off-road rule means
Prorack's load ratings page says the maximum load rating reduces by 33% once you leave sealed roads, and by 50% for clamp-mounted systems. As an example of that rule, a system rated 100 kg on the road is limited to about 67 kg once it leaves sealed roads. On a Wedgetail, the dynamic rating listed for your vehicle is the figure on sealed and unsealed roads alike.
Prorack also says the component with the lowest rating sets the limit for the whole system, and that is true of any rack: the vehicle maker's roof limit still applies.
Universal platform or vehicle specific
The Aero Deck is a universal platform: Prorack sells it in two sizes and fits it with a direct mount kit or a crossbar adapter kit sold separately. A Wedgetail Adventure platform is made to suit each vehicle, with the mounting made for that roof. Look up your vehicle with Find My Vehicle or in the model guides, such as the Toyota HiLux guide.
Accessory compatibility
The lip around a Wedgetail platform is there for strength. Some third-party accessories need a 10 mm spacer to clear it, and with that they fit. There is no Wedgetail spacer kit; the accessory compatibility guide explains the lip and the spacer.
Comparing price
Prorack's Aero Deck price is for the platform only, with freight, installation and the mounting kit extra. Wedgetail prices are per vehicle fitment. Compare the complete kit for your own vehicle, and see the Wedgetail facts for who makes the racks and how they are rated.
