Fitment
What size roof platform do I need for a single, extra or dual cab?
Short answer
Platform length follows the roof and cab type: Wedgetail lists one platform size, width x length in mm, for each vehicle fitment, and single, extra and dual cabs each take a different length. Single cab roof platforms are the shortest and dual cab roofs usually take the longest; on a service body it reverses, because a shorter cab leaves a longer body behind it. Your exact size is in your vehicle's model guide and on the product page, and most Wedgetail platforms are rated 100 or 150 kg dynamic.

Wedgetail does not sell platforms by size alone. Each one is listed for a make, model, generation, cab and roof, with its width and length in mm, so the right size is the one listed for your vehicle.
How to find your size
- Note your vehicle: make, model, year or generation, cab (single, extra or dual) and roof (bare, factory rails, sunroof or raised roof).
- Open its model guide or Find My Vehicle. Each fitment lists the platform's width x length in mm, its rating and its fit method.
- Pick where it mounts: cab roof, canopy, service body or tub system. Each is a different fitment with its own size.
- Check the load: the platform's rating and your vehicle maker's roof limit, the lower of the two.
Why the cab sets the length
A cab roof platform sits between the top of the windscreen and the back of the cab. A dual cab has a second row of doors and the longest roof of the three; an extra cab's roof is shorter; a single cab's is the shortest. On a service body the order flips: the shorter the cab, the longer the body behind it, so a single cab takes the longest service body platform. The Commercial Max platforms for the Caddy Storage service body on the Mazda BT-50 show it: single cab is longer than dual cab.
Year and roof change the fitment too
- Generation: the same cab type can take a different size from one generation to the next, so the Ranger PX extra cab and the 2022 on extra cab are listed separately with different sizes.
- Roof rails: some models have separate fitments for roofs with and without factory rails, and the Ranger with the Ford Flexible Rack System has its own platform (see the Ranger FRS guide).
- Roof height and sunroofs: flat roof, raised roof and sunroof versions are listed as separate fitments where they differ.

Need more length?
Fit the size listed for your cab roof. If you need more deck than the cab roof gives, a canopy or service body platform is the way to get it. See which canopies and service bodies Wedgetail fits and canopy mount or cab mount.
Questions people ask
What size roof platform do I need for a dual cab ute?
The size listed for your dual cab's fitment, which depends on the make, model, generation and roof. Dual cab roofs usually take the longest cab roof platforms; the width and length in mm are in your model guide and on the product page.
What size platform fits a HiLux dual cab?
The size listed for your HiLux generation in the Toyota HiLux guide. Each fitment there shows its width x length in mm, rating and fit method.
Is there a platform for a Mazda BT-50 extra cab?
Yes. Wedgetail Adventure lists a 2020 on BT-50 extra cab platform and Oval Steel lists one for the 2011 to 2020 extra cab.
What platform fits a 79 Series single cab?
A cab chassis platform: Wedgetail Adventure, Commercial Max and Oval Steel each list one for the LandCruiser 79 cab chassis. They are in the LandCruiser 70 guide.
Can I fit a longer platform than the one listed for my cab?
Fit the size listed for your fitment. For more length, use a canopy or service body platform, which is sized to the body behind the cab.
Does the year of my ute change the platform size?
It can. Generations are listed separately, and the same cab type can take a different size from one generation to the next.
Does a bigger platform carry more?
Not necessarily. The rating is listed per solution, not by size; most Wedgetail platforms are rated 100 or 150 kg dynamic, and the vehicle maker's roof limit still applies.
